No dissemblance here: we’ve been pipped at the post. Sainsbury’s, a British grocery colossus, built a hugely successful video around this title, pro bono, that has since “gone viral” in England (q.v. link below), but the book itself remains  a classic.

In it, an endearing cat named Mog, spooked by what appears to be a walking Christmas tree approaching the front door, takes to the hills on Christmas Eve (in this case, the roof), and refuses to come down: until, that is, she does so in thoroughly undignified fashion.

Judith Kerr (as in Carr) is famous for her dozen-odd tales of this endearing feline. The video, unusually, eclipses the text, but the two together make a delicious Christmas treat, Paddington-style, for children of all ages.

CHILDREN! Can you spot our mog (Pippin) do a walk-through in our Christmas video?!
